How to Generate Roman Hinglish Subtitles for Premiere Pro

The Hindi language setting tells speech recognition to listen for Hindi and usually write it in Devanagari. The English setting tells it to interpret the same sounds as English. Neither option expresses the real request: recognize Hindi-English speech and write the Hindi portions in Roman letters.

   Export or select the clean source audio

   Use the original recording when possible. Music, echo, overlapping speakers, and compressed social downloads create avoidable errors.

   Choose Roman Hinglish output

   Use a subtitle generator that names Roman Hinglish or transliteration explicitly. Generic Hindi support may still return Devanagari.

   Correct words and cue timing

   Review names, brands, English spellings, fast code-switches, and the first and final timestamps before export.

   Export an SRT file

   SRT stores the text and cue timestamps in a format Premiere Pro can import without performing speech recognition again.

   Import the file

   Choose File, then Import, and select the generated .srt file. It appears in the Project panel.

   Add it to the sequence

   Drag the imported caption item onto the timeline and choose the subtitle track option when Premiere asks.

   Check sync before styling

   Play the first, middle, and final cue. Fix any offset before changing fonts, colors, or placement.

   Style or replace the track

   Style the caption track inside Premiere, or use a rendered caption layer when the design has already been finalized elsewhere.
